Thank you for your letter of 23 August 1994 re the paper by Fitt and Stevens. This paper has been accepted by the Journal called Neuro-Radiology and will probably now be published in 1995. Dr Stevens told me just today that he has only recently received the proofs.

Essentially, the paper indicated that although arachnoiditis occurred following surgery, the chance of it happening was well under 10% if the patient had not had had Myodil, In contrast, if the patient had had Myodil, the chance of post-operative arachnoiditis was found to be over 50% in the group they investigated but, of course, this was a highly selected group of patients.
